Imagine Alden helping remember what is running low at home while you are at the store, comparing products while you are looking at them, assisting with smart-home systems, or helping explain unfamiliar information without requiring you to reconstruct the entire context each time.
Through personal audio, Alden could eventually hear another language, translate it for the user while the conversation is happening, and help translate the user's response back.
Alden is not being designed around unrestricted control. Capabilities can be limited, monitored, tested and expanded as they prove reliable. Learning from experience does not require giving an AI unrestricted permission to rewrite the safeguards governing the system.
Technology does not have to replace human independence. Used thoughtfully, it can help preserve it.
Development has already begun around continuity, safeguards, memory, controlled tool use and provider-independent design. The next major step requires dedicated local hardware to bring the pieces together.
